I am A+ certified and have been in my position for 8 months now and manage some things, but a lot of my work is still very low. My Org has an offsite MSP and me for their technical support. Hello all!Context:I am the Onsite IT person for a non-profit.

The source code of the software is still in the hands of the people that have been running the company and Redfox is now alive and kicking in Belize with many members of its former shell continuing to push forth. Slysoft/RedFox maintains its stance that it protects the privacy of its users due to additions such as BD-Live and refers back to the sony rootkit violated that end users privacy. In a twist, SlySoft developers also revealed that none of the company's staff were actually based in Antigua, that the company was not involved in legal settlements from AACS LA, and that key staff members still had access to SlySoft's technical infrastructure-including build systems and licensing servers-feasibly allowing development of AnyDVD to continue. Due to the conviction, they could tell companies, “you’re doing business with a company that conducts illegal activities”.Īfter a change in copyright legislation in Antigua, and numerous legal battles Slysoft decided to shut itself down. It wasn't so much the amount that mattered in the case, though. This certainly wasn't going to happen but eventually Slysoft did get a judgment against them in a different case and was fined $11,000USD. Slysoft themselves were then in a legal battle with the AACS-LA who took them to court, nothing came of the case and then tried to settle by asking them to voluntarily close their doors. Eventually, Slysoft bought the rights to AnyDVD and DVD Region from Elaborate Byte and Game Jackal from Jackal Consulting due to the company no longer being able to sell their product in Australia due to changes in copyright legislation that came into effect in the mid 2000's.

The reason that they acquired this license is because Elaborate Bytes was based out of Germany, and due to copyright laws it made it impossible for them to continue operating there. Slysoft started by acquiring the license to sell the CloneCD software that Elaborate Bytes (now Elby) developed. It came as no real surprise that Slysoft is now a defunct company.įor those that do not know, Slysoft was a software company based out of Antigua that sold software to bypass various Digital rights management (DRM) and user operation prohibition (UOP) restrictions. I had a new training workstation to set up and I figured that, instead of using the Virtual Clone Drive version that I have on a flash drive that I would download the newest version and potentially replace the one that I have.
